Have you noticed how kids, no matter what age, love playing in and with water?
From babies to tweens, they can spend lots of time in the bath, the pool, or the river! You can even just provide a little basin or small inflatable pool to a toddler and he/she would be all giddy with excitement.
Water toys and activities are great way to entertain kids at any age.
As long as you’ve got all safety precautions in check, then you know they’re going to have a lot of fun.
Anyway, here are some fun water toys for kids that children (and adults) love.
Best Water Toys For Kids: Keep them Cool with these Fun Water Activities
Let’s Start With The Basics
Your Handy Water Hose
In the summer, the hose is the absolute favorite toy in the backyard.
I never thought about this before but one time, my 3 year old, while playing with the dog, picked up the hose, asked me to turn it on and then started playing with the dog using the water hose.
The dog went crazy over it. And my son laughed his heart out.
If I wasn’t too worried about water wastage, I would have let it go on for hours.
I tend to limit the use of the hose now (water shortage, anyone?), but every now and then, we live a little and play with that hose.
A Basin Of Water
Who says you have to buy toys to find one that kids enjoy?
Just get a basin of water, put some toys in and children are going to enjoy them no problem.
When my son was a toddler, I would put little dinosaurs in the basin and told my son to give them a bath.
He thought that was fun and he would stay there for a very long time just giving the dinosaurs a good bath.
To make it a little different, you can also add vegetable coloring or soap to the water.
Give your child some tasks as he plays with them or make up stories (why is the water that color?) and let his/his imagination move from there.
Buckets, Spades and Water Sprinkler
These gardening tools for kids are a staple in my house. In both the summer and winter, we always manage to put these toys in good use.
Lawn Water Toys For Kids
There’s a water fountain where I live, and every summer, you can see a lot of kids congregating towards that particular place in our town.
You can recreate this in your own backyard by having a sprinkler installed.
If your garden has one, then so much the better, as you get to water the plants as well as offer some fun for the kids.
If you don’t, there are sprinklers that you can buy that are just as fun.
The Melissa and Doug Sunny Patch Blossom Bright Sprinkler is one of the popular sprinklers for kids of this kind.
In the absence of sprinkler, spray bottles or water guns are good alternatives, too.
Water Wheels or Water Windmills
For some reason, but his cousin loved it.
Many of these water wheels can be used in the bath or with sands at the beach, too
Squirt Guns/Water Guns/Water Balloons
fun at the pool. Fun anywhere. Get ready to get wet.
much like squirt guns but filled with bubbles. Little ones have a “blast” with this.
Let’s Get the Big Guns Out
Now if you fancy, something more than the toys above, and if you have the backyard space for it, here are some water toys for kids that are double the fun.
Inflatable Swimming Pools
There are a lot of inflatable pools perfect for little kids to have a splash in.
This is something I think every family with little kids should have in their house.
It doesn’t cost an arm and a leg and it’s amazing how long kids can stay in these things.
Just remember, always think about safety when you have one in the backyard.
Never ever leave the kids, especially the little ones, alone! Even for 1 second!
When I say waterslides, I mean two different things.
The most basic waterslide is an inflatable material that lies flat on the lawn. With the help of water, the children can then slide on the lawn from one end to the other on their stomach. It’s a lot of fun (and potentially dangerous?) especially for older kids. Just make sure they don’t all do it at the same time.
Another thing I mean by waterslides are the big inflatable bouncy castle types with a slide and a pool at the bottom of the slide.
These are amazing!
Kids could stay in these for hours – and expect the neighborhood kids to come over for a play, too!
These water slides look like the ones in water amusement parks except that they’re inflatable.
